Before heading off to see the country of your dreams, it is always nice to get insight from someone who has been there—or even better, lived there.
Author of Lost and Found in Spain, Susan Solomont, lived in Spain from 2010 until 2013. She had an inside view of Spain that few of us ever glimpse—that of the wife of an ambassador to the United States.
While living in Spain, Susan took advantage of getting to know as much about the country and seeing as much of it as possible. A self-acclaimed foodie she also delved into the diverse and scrumptious cuisine that each region has to offer.
Although her life in Spain is through a different lens than most visitors—how many of the millions of tourists in Spain have the opportunity to schmooze with the likes of Antonio Banderas, Rafa Nadal or the Spanish Royal family?— her struggles and joys can be related to by all.
Solomont’s book is more about how she found herself in her new and unique role as ambassador’s wife than her discovering Spain. But, if you are looking for a read to learn a little about the Spanish people, culture and lifestyle you will find Lost and Found in Spain an informative read in preparation for your trip.
