See live art performances, swim with sharks and do hands-on science experments at the Arts and Science City
The Cuidad de las Artes y las Ciencias—The Arts and Science City—is an entire complex of contemporary buildings that bring science and the arts to life.
Each of the buildings is dedicated to its own speciality: The Science museum is exactly as it sounds, a museum about science, the Hemospheric houses an Imax theatre, Oceanogric is Europes largest aquarium, Palau de las artes is a large concert hall which continually brings in opera, ballet or other musical acts, Umbracie-the botanical gardens and Agora which is an events venue.

The Science Museum—a museum that your children will love as much as you
This isn’t a museum that your children will get bored in. There are interactive hands-on activities just for them. The centre has four separate entertaining modules for children: The senses, water, animals—where young visitors learn the diet, habitat and reproduction of animals, and an unfinished house—a space where children are involved in the building of a house.
The museum describes itself as:
“The Príncipe Felipe Science Museum has become a world reference point for interactive science and one of the most visited destinations in the country. Its main objective is stimulating curiosity and critical thinking and at the same time surprising and amusing the public by its contents from the world of science, technology, and the environment.”
Another section, also dedicated to children is called Little ones astronomy. This area helps young ones understand astronomy in a recreative form.

Oceanografic—Europes largest aquarium
Oceanografic is another fun family event. Plan to spend the day at this aquarium as there is so much to see and do.
One of the most impressive parts of this aquarium is that it is built so that you feel that you are actually interacting with the marine life. You will walk through a tunnel and see all the marine life from the smallest fish to the largest sharks swimming over your head and all around you.
You can opt for some additional activities within the park, such as being a marine mammal trainer for the day, or get a family passport that gives you extra perks in the park or even opt to sleep with the sharks.

Looking for culture? Palau de les Arte offers opera, ballet, and classical music concerts
The Palau de les Arte brings in world class opera, ballet, classical music and theatre to this magnificent venue. As the performances continually change, you will want to check the schedule to see what is on when you are in town—or when you want to be in town to take in the performance that you would like to see.
The building that houses Palau de les Arte is a work of art in itself. It is over 40,000 m2 and houses four performance spaces for opera, music, ballet and theatre.
